Aleksandar Rusjakov
Aleksandar Rusjakov is a poet, writer, screenwriter, and columnist. He graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Department of Film and TV Directing. He is the author of the books: Do You Love Me in the Rain? (short stories, 2010), The Thirteenth Month (novel, 2012), Athena with a Penis (novel, 2014), A Sip of Admiration from the Tears of Eternity (poetry, 2016), Whore Chronicles (novel, 2020), Albino Trip (novel, 2021), Hotel Between Two Wars (novel, 2022), 50 Songs of Stories (poetry, 2023), The Girl and the Travelling Doll (picture book, 2024), and Egosurfer (short stories, 2025). For Hotel Between Two Wars, he received the Pegasus Award for Best Unpublished Novel in 2022 and the Racin Award, and for 50 Songs of Stories, he won the Antevo Pero Award. Since 2009, he has been a regular columnist for the Nova Makedonija newspaper. Together with Boris Damovski, he is the co-author of 13 seasons of the animated political satire Ednooki. He is credited as a screenwriter and co-screenwriter for several short and feature film screenplays.

"This short story collection is titled Egosurfer, matching the title of its opening story. However, the ego as a disparaging state of mind—and the struggle against this darkest dungeon of the being—is linked to the fallacy of the individual, and by extension, of society. It alludes to the insignificance of humanity in the face of the presence and decisions of higher entities—which, in Aleksandar Rusjakov's stories, represents the divine. Almost all of his heroes are placed before their own identity abyss, and their wise and just moves determine their own future, which inherently implies the future of society itself."
