What makes a book great? The number of copies sold, a diverse readership, its place on bestseller lists, how widely it is discussed in reading groups—or literary value, awards, style, ideas, and depth?
In a BookStar-style Debate Fight Club, two teams will go head-to-head over one of the oldest, yet most relevant questions in literature: can a book loved by millions also be great literature?
Is success with readers proof of literary value, or does popularity make literature predictable, commercial, and “easy”? Where do the market and art meet, and where do they part ways? And who, in the end, gets to decide what good literature is?
No safe zone. No definitive answers. No taking things too seriously. Just arguments, counterarguments, a little fun, and a literary Fight Club.
