Her public voice is an attempt to reach toward freedom of speech and freedom of thought.
From the unforgettable Zuleikha to the other powerful female characters and complex worlds of her novels, Yakhina creates a literary space in which great historical events are seen through the perspective of ordinary people in conflict with dominant narratives.
In conversation with the author, we will explore her literary universe—from history and memory to the female perspective, identity, belonging, and the human need to find light even in the darkest of times.
