The publishing house Antolog from Skopje announces:
27 TOP POET-TRANSLATORS COMPETING FOR THE 2026 "DRAGI" AWARD
We are pleased to announce that by the applications submission deadline (July 1, 2026), the organizer's editorial office received 24 works translated into Macedonian, both in print and electronic format. 27 Macedonian poet-translators are competing for the award. The nominated books are published by 9 publishing houses, with translations from 12 different languages. Included in the selection are works (stand-alone books or poetry selections) of 22 foreign authors, and with the two anthologies are taken into account, this competition includes a total of literary pieces by about a hundred world poets.For the first time since its establishment, this award will be awarded for the translation of a poetic work, which will fill a large gap in our cultural environment, and at the same time, the name of Dr. Dragi Mihajlovski, who made the greatest contribution precisely in the translation of literary works in verse, will be worthily honored.

The three-member jury committee for awarding the prize for the best translation in the Macedonian language "Dragi" this year will consist of Jana Mihajlovska PhD (librarian and president of the Library Association of Macedonia; representative of the family of Dragi Mihajlovski), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vladimir Cvetkoski (author, editor, translator, interpreter and associate professor at the Department of English Language and Literature and translator; representative proposed by the Faculty of Philology "Blaže Koneski") and Acad. Ivan Dzeparoski (poet, essayist, translator and retired university professor, representative proposed by the "Antolog" publishing house).
This year's edition of the "Dragi" award was realized by the publishing house "Antolog" with the support of the Ministry of Culture and in cooperation with the Faculty of Philology "Blaže Koneski" - Skopje.
The annual award for best literary translation in Мacedonian - Dragi was announced in 2022 with the first honorary recognition awarded to Dragi Mihajlovski (1951-2022), a Мacedonian writer, translator, essayist and professor. Besides his prose work, Mihajlovski has left a meaningful and eternal footstep in Macedonian culture with the translation of Shakespeare, Milton, Shelley, Blake, Eliot. and others. He has published several studies and essays about the theory of translation and his opinions about literary translation have also inspired students at the Faculty of Philology "Blaže Koneski" in Skopje, where he was a professor. His works have been significant to all who work with the study and practice of translation (translatology).
