Ivan Šopov
Ivan Shopov graduated with a degree in General and Comparative Literature from the "Blaze Koneski" Faculty of Philology in his hometown of Skopje. He has published the short story collection An Alphabet and Notes Gone Astray (2010), for which he received the Novite Award for best debut prose manuscript; the prose poetry collection Belly of the Year (2012); the collected satirical writings The Chronicles of Arslan Dailey (2018); the short story collection Skopje: the Lost Shoes of the City (2020); and the flash fiction collection Zentrifugе (2024), which was the Macedonian nomination for the European Union Prize for Literature in 2026. He also writes poetry and haiku. His short stories and poems have been translated into a dozen languages. He has translated books into Macedonian by Miroslav Krleža, Martha Nussbaum, Zvonko Karanović, Madeleine Thien, Bojan Babić, Asja Bakić, Mihail Veshim, Ambrose Bierce, Dragoslav Mihailović, and others. Together with Vladimir Lukaš, he co-founded Cultural Center 750.
