Suzana Kamberova

Suzana Kamberova is a dermatologist and storyteller.

She writes novels, short stories, and columns. Her short fiction has appeared in several collections and anthologies across the region, including Serbia, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She is fascinated by mystery and what lies hidden underneath the surface, by time, and by places where reality and imagination meet.

She believes that literature can ask big questions and at the same time tell a good story.

She is the author of four novels, two written in Macedonian and two in Serbian. Her novel Scary Stories (Ars Lamina, 2024) was a finalist for the 2023 Pegasus Award. Journey Through the Worlds (Slovo, 2026) is her latest novel, in which the world reveals itself to us through the language of fairy tales.

The novel Journeys Through the Worlds is a triptych composed of three separate parts—tales that can be read individually or as a single whole that follows the path each of the three heroines takes in her own development.

Using a vivid narrative style on the border between fairy tale and fantasy, each story opens up different themes—maturation, love, loss, the struggle between good and evil, sacrifice, death, and what remains as a lasting value after all human efforts.

As the stories unfold, these themes delve into a deeper, symbolic space. The three heroines pass through different worlds and trials, but their paths are gradually revealed as variations of the same quest for self-identity, for meaning, and for human place in the world.

Journeys Through the Worlds is a novel about travel as transformation—through external, imaginary worlds, but above all, through the worlds that man carries within himself.
