Giorgia Spadoni is a translator, literary scout and teacher from Italy. She holds a Master’s degree from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in translation. Since 2022 she has been teaching a course in translation from Bulgarian into Italian within the university program. In addition to literary translation, she is also active in film translation and interpreting for literary events and festivals. She usually translates for Georgi Gospodinov.
For her work, she was awarded with the “Leonardo Pampuri” (2018) and “Polski kot” (2024) translation prize and was also a finalist for the “Peroto” literary prize (2023).
In 2023, due to her proposal the Italian publishing house “Bottega Errante Edizioni” published “Circo Bulgaria”,which became one of the three finalists of the “Peroto” literary prize for the best translation from Bulgarian into a foreign language. The work is the recipient of the “Polski kot” award in 2024 for the best translation from a Slavic language into Italian.
A couple of her literary proposals to “Bottega Errante Edizioni” will be published in Italy in 2025.
“Bottega Errante Edizioni” focuses on publishing Italian translations of contemporary literature from Central, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Тranslation of Rumena Bužarovska’s “My husband” to Italian language is published by this publishing house.
