Panel within "Made in Europe: The Power of Diversity"
"(Im)possible match – author and translator" is the title of the discussion session in which four writers and their translators participate. In the conversation, by confronting the perspectives of writers and translators, we will once again talk about the issues and dilemmas related to authorship and authorship in the translation process. The four authors and the four translators (some of whom are authors themselves) will try to answer some of the questions related to the art and skills of translation: is the translator actually a double of the author he is translating; is it his shadow; whether the author and the translator are different sides of the same coin; can the translator, with his author's approach, change and improve the original; how much is a translator allowed to be an author?
The panel is organized within the framework of the "Made in Europe: The Power of Diversity" project, so that in that context the topics related to the necessity of works written in lesser-used languages to be translated into major European languages, the issue of fair distribution of literary works from smaller literary environments, as well as the role of translation in increasing the power of diversity in the European literary landscape, will be addressed.
