He graduated from\nMarmara University, Department of Public Administration. In 1985-1986,\nhe studied politics at the Academy of Social Sciences in Moscow. His first\nbook was a poetry collection in 1989. In 1992, his first book of short stories\nwas published. This was followed by his detective story books. His first\nnovel,<em>Fog and Night,<\/em> written in 1996, was considered a masterpiece in\ndetective literature. The film<em>Farewell to My Beautiful Homeland<\/em> was made\nbased on his screenplay. The author, whose works have been published in 37\ndifferent languages, has reached a vast international readership.
