\u017darko Kujundjiski<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u017darko Kujundjiski (Skopje, 1980) is a Macedonian essayist, playwright, short story\nwriter, poet, film and literary critic, translator and publisher. He graduated in 2003,\nand in 2009 he received his master's degree from the Department of General and\nComparative Literature at the Faculty of Philology "Bla\u017ee Koneski". He was a\ncolumnist in the daily newspapers "Utrinski Vesnik" and "Dnevnik", a copywriter in a\nmarketing agency, and a press coordinator at the "Manaki Brothers" Film Festival\nfrom Bitola. He is the founder and initiator, independently or in partnership, of\nseveral relevant projects in the Macedonian cultural environment, such as: the online\nmagazine "Reper"www.reper.net.mk<\/a>the award for best translation "Dragi", the\ninternational literary festival "BookStar"www.bookstar.mk<\/a>the fellowship program\n"Publishing Europe", the mobile bookstore "Zbor\u010de", as well as the online platform\nfor the promotion of Macedonian literature abroad www.writers.mk<\/a>He is the author\nof 14 books, as well as the guide "Skopje" (2015) as part of the project "Discovering\nEurope anew" by Little Global Cities. He has translated and adapted several works\nfrom English to Macedonian. His works have been translated into English, Serbian,\nCroatian, Slovenian, Polish, German, Turkish, Bulgarian, Italian, Ukrainian, Arabic\nand Albanian. He is represented in a large number of anthologies of Macedonian\nprose and poetry. Among other things, his short story "When the Glasses Are Lost" is\npart of the renowned anthology "The Best European Fiction 2013". He is the winner\nof the "Stale Popov", "DeBuren", "13 November", "11 March 1943", "White Dawns",\n"Studentski Zbor", "Bla\u017ee Koneski" awards for essay, as well as awards for screenplay\nand acting at the "Faces Without Masks" Festival. He was a Macedonian candidate\nfor the "Balkanika" award 2021. He has been a member of the Writers' Association of\nMacedonia since 2012 and the Macedonian PEN Center since 2013. The novel\n"Spectator" is the first debut novel in contemporary Macedonian literature with eight\neditions and has been translated into Polish and English so far. The novel "America"\n\u200b\u200bhas been translated into Italian, while "Sphinx of Wrath" has been translated\ninto Albanian and Bulgarian. The book "Storyteller" is being translated into Czech.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe short story is an underestimated form, but at the same time a form with\nincredible potential. Every author would like to identify themselves with this flashy\nand frivolous definition, and that is why I thought that such a collection would be the\nmost appropriate to mark the anniversary of \u201ctwenty-five years of storytelling\u201d. And\nwhen I say a form with incredible potential, I also mean this: the shortest of these\nprose pieces has ten words, and the longest has almost four thousand words.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cKujundjiski is a master of the short story, a master of reason whose root is in the\nheart. In one place, in one story, he writes about himself, about the fact that he writes\nthe stories first in his head. But after reading it, it is quite clear that for him reason is\nnot opposed to the heart. As in prayer: he thinks with his heart. That is why he\nhappens to write something so warm, sincere and wonderful, which, I am sure, will\nchange the physiognomy of the contemporary Macedonian short story."<\/p>\n
